Item Description: Vintage CAXTON Fifth Avenue New York Hats men's brushed felt hat in a light brown/tan. Satin lined. Tied grosgrain ribbon & button accent. The Foreman & Clark (Los Angeles department store) insignia is stamped in gold on the inside band. Includes the original hatbox with cardboard insert to hold the hat in place. Exact age of this hat is unknown, but based on the estate it came from it is believed to be from the early 1960s. Truly an extraordinary find! Men's size Small (6-7/8). Condition: The hat is excellent overall pre-owned vintage condition with no staining or tears. Absolutely no odors. Upon close inspection, we had a difficult time finding any real imperfections to speak of (with the exception of maybe a tiny orange-ish 'stain' in the satin lining, and a loose white thread near the band). Was in protected/dark storage for decades. The hatbox on the inside shows only discoloration of the cardboard due to age. The outside shows more significant signs of wear, including 'chalkiness' of the paper covering the lid and paper wear/tearing around the edges (rim) on the lid and around the bottom of the box. The original carrying string is still attached to the box but is broken.
