This charger can be connected to the engine magneto white wire and will operate without any interruption to the bike’s ignition system whatsoever! This charger can be used to charge 4 or 6AA battery packs and also 6 volt SLA batteries. The battery can be charged up while riding and used for all 3 to 5 watt headlight/tail light setups. This special charger will keep battery charged up while riding to provide lighting when needed. This setup does not interefere with the motorized bike ignition system at all; unlike the intereference experienced when using the white wire to run lights directly. This battery charger is a great solution for person’s not having the extra cash or will to purchase our separate Mini-Generator for battery charging/ lighting purpose. What does this mean to you?-It means if you happen to have a 3 to 5 watts headlight/tail light and some batteries sitting around, you can have a self contained rechargeable lighting system for less! You can also still purchase a Mini-Gen later on and use it with this charger if you wish. Recommended battery capacities are 1 to 3 Ah. Larger capacity batteries (eg. 5, 7, 10 Ah) will still charge but simply take longer if completely drained. Just strap mini-charger onto bicycle seat post after using a layer of duct tape to frame (helps prevent scatches and improves grip). Cable ties are included, but duct tape is not included. Approx. charger size is 2 x 1.4 x 1″ thich. This can be strapped to other places if preferred. Actual LED light might be white to distinguish from other Mini-Chargers unless a particular color is specified by customer when ordering. connect red (power input wire to bike’s white wire) Just route Mini-charger POWER INPUT wire toward front of bike frame and connect to white wire. Join the wires by crimping a wire connector, or use any means you wish. If a shut-off switch wire is already connected to white wire, it can remain there. Remove a nut from carb intake pipe and attach the Mini-Charger ground cable (as seen in photo). The ground cable must be grounded to engine for the charger to work. It might also be necessary to use another wire connector between engine and frame in order for frame grounded lights to work. In most cases the engine is already in contact with the bike’s metal frame, so the need for a separate connection is not likely. The Mini-Charger can now be connected to a 4AA battery pack to be charged for providing 3 to 5 watts of light. The 3 watt 6 volt dynamo light sets commonly used with bicycles are ideal. Since most bicycle dynamos would be destroyed when used with a motorized bike, this engine dependent setup is ideal. An SLA 6 volt battery can also be used. Connect the negative and positive wires from Mini-Charger to battery. Use duct tape or cable ties to secure wire, then use duct tape or cable ties to strap wires to bike frame. Your setup will look much better than this! The green wire from Mini-Charger will be routed to light switch (not included). Green LED light on Mini-Charger will indicate charging activity while engine is running. An inline fuse holder is included with Mini-Charger to hold a circuit protection fuse.
