This is SailboatsToGo item 2009 with substitution of clamp-on rudder for the standard rudder. Just the sail kit. Boat not included. How portable is it? Folds to compact bundle. Shipping box with all parts including rudder is 48 x 12 x 12 inches. Weight about 43 lbs. What exactly is it? This is much more than just a sail and a mast. It is a complete sailboat conversion kit. Some other companies will offer a sail and mast, and maybe spars or a boom, and call that a “sail kit.” You cannot convert your inflatable boat for sailing with just a sail and mast. You need additional parts to hold the mast up, and you need leeboards so you can sail across the wind and tack upwind, and you need convenient steering for control. And you need a way to attach everything to your boat and instructions tailored to your boat. Our sail rig is complete and includes all parts necessary for all these functions. Comfort: The sail kit allows plenty of headroom under the sail and it does not take away a significant amount of floor space in the boat. Sailing is easy and fun. You can figure out the basics in just a few hours with the included sailing manual and be a sailor your first day on the water. Sail will be our 45-sq.-ft. white sail with red, yellow and blue stripes as shown in one of the photos with this listing. Subsitution of a larger 55 SF sail and taller/stronger mast ($149) instead of the 45 SF sail. Detailed parts list: Nylon sail, mast, spars (the boom and the top spar that hold the sail), the mast step (socket that holds up the mast), metal frame that straps to the boat that everything mounts to, leeboards (fins on the sides that act like a centerboard or keel to counteract side slip so the boat can sail across the wind or tack upwind), clamp-on rudder, all necessary straps, ropes and hardware. Other Information; All parts are corrosion resistant. Weight of the sail kit is only about 43 pounds including all the above parts. No modification to your boat is required.
