This oversized turkey platter would have come with a lavish set of ironstone. Each type of plate/bowl would have had a different scene and it would have been very pricey back in the 19th century. You could put a 24 pound turkey on this platter and none of it would trail over your tablecloth. Extra wide, nice and long, very nearly square. This rare platter has a camouflaged chip on the lower edge of the rim. Not a repair per se, but someone’s half attempt at camouflage. If you are leaning it on a plate rail, it is an amazing surviving piece of artwork. I have to remind myself that it has a f law. The price is a reflection of great age + extreme rarity with a great deduction for the flaw. Most items are shipped, however if you are local and want to take a little ride and save the shipping, that's up to you.
