If one of these gets damaged, replacing it won’t work. The replacement part doesn’t have the same serial number as the board, so the device will lock itself into an inoperable state. As time goes on, manufacturers have been increasing how many components are serialized. Meaning, if any of these components fails, the device is rendered unrepairable. Manufacturers have further scared their customers from repairing their devices with illegal and false “tempering will void warranty” labels.
