Television shows such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Virginian, Rawhide, and Wagon Train, and many others too numerous to mention, were some of the most watched TV productions ever made. At the same time the Hollywood movie industry was also in full swing, releasing some of the most memorable Western genre movie productions in Hollywood history. Several enterprising firearms firms capitalized on the Single Action craze which arose largely due to the public’s fascination with the lore of the Old West, which to a very large degree continues unabated to this day.In the late 1960’s through the 1970’s, Hawes Firearms Inc., based in Los Angeles, California, imported and marketed a popular series of Single Action Army style revolvers known as the Western Marshal series. These revolvers were manufactured in Germany by the J.P. Sauer & Sohn firm and imported primarily by Hawes.
