Information about set In early 1994, SkyBox released DC Stars, a card series sold exclusively in Wal-Mart stores. The artwork is recycled from various comics books, DC Cosmic Cards, DC Cosmic Teams, and promotional materials. This set marks the first appearance of Batman and other Gotham characters in a modern DC Universe trading card series. DC Stars are sold in boxes of 18 packs or large 96-pack feeder boxes. The set is comprised of 45 base cards, 9 puzzle cards, and 4 foil star cards. There are 5 cards and one puzzle piece in every pack. The odds of finding a foil card are 1:20 packs. Superman appears on three different cards in this series. Card #1 features art from the DC Cosmic Teams set penciled by Dan Jurgens and inked by Rick Burchett. The center puzzle card, P5, features an image by Jon Bogdanove taken from an earlier print. García-López images of Superman and Batman also appear on the wrapper artwork for the series. An album binder for the set was sold in Wal-Mart stores.
