The information about the history of Pazmashen (Bazmashen, Sarıçubuk) is taken from authentic sources and traditions that have been kept among the people for thousands of years and have been passed down from generation to generation. Abdal Boghosian’s Comprehensive History of Pazmashen, supply a rich history of the founding clans of Pazmashen and the surnames generated from each of these clans. Pazmashen was an entirely Armenian village approximately nine miles west of the Kharpert fortress. Throughout the 19th century, the village grew and prospered. At its height, almost 2,000 Armenians lived in Pazmashen.
